Khecheopalri Lake
Known as the "Wish-Fulfilling Lake," Khecheopalri is sacred to both Buddhists and Hindus. The lake is surrounded by dense forest, and mysteriously, leaves that fall on the water are picked up by birds, keeping the lake pristine. It's believed that wishes made here come true.
Lampokhari Lake
Located in Aritar, East Sikkim, this serene lake is surrounded by cherry trees that bloom spectacularly in spring. The lake offers boating facilities and is far less crowded than Tsomgo. The nearby British-era bungalow adds historical charm.
Green Lake
Accessible only by trek, Green Lake sits at 16,000 feet in the shadow of Kanchenjunga. The 9-day trek through pristine wilderness is one of Sikkim's most challenging, rewarding trekkers with some of the most spectacular Himalayan views.
Menmecho Lake
On the road to Nathula Pass, this glacial lake is often overlooked by tourists rushing to the border. Surrounded by snowy peaks, Menmecho is strikingly beautiful and far more peaceful than the crowded Tsomgo Lake.
Cholamu Lake
At 18,000 feet, Cholamu is one of the highest lakes in India. Reaching it requires special permits and a challenging drive through North Sikkim. The lake remains frozen for most of the year, creating an otherworldly landscape.
