Tour Itinerary
Arrive at NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport, from where you will be driven through scenic Himalayan roads to Yuksom, the historic base village of the Goechala Trek. Yuksom was once the first capital of Sikkim and is surrounded by dense forests and sacred monasteries. After check-in, meet your trek leader for a briefing, equipment check, and permit formalities. Enjoy a relaxed evening walking around the village and rest well for the trek ahead.
The trek begins today, entering dense forests of oak, pine, and rhododendron. You will cross suspension bridges over clear mountain streams and steadily climb through Sachen and Bakhim. As you gain altitude, the forest opens up, and prayer flags announce your arrival at Tshoka, a small Tibetan settlement on a ridge. From here, you may catch your first glimpse of Mt. Pandim and Mt. Kanchenjunga. Overnight stay in trekker huts or tents.
A steep and rewarding climb through enchanting rhododendron and silver fir forests awaits today. At Phedang, enjoy sweeping views of the Himalayan ranges before continuing towards the open meadows of Dzongri. By evening, the towering snow walls of Kanchenjunga glow golden under the setting sun, creating a truly magical atmosphere.
Early morning hike to Dzongri Top (13,675 ft) to witness one of the finest Himalayan sunrises. The peaks of Kanchenjunga, Kabru, Rathong, and Pandim light up dramatically as the sun rises. The rest of the day is dedicated to acclimatization, short walks, photography, and rest to prepare your body for higher altitudes.
Descend gradually into the valley, crossing the glacial waters of the Prek Chu River. The trail opens into vast alpine meadows as you reach Thansing, a stunning campsite directly facing Mt. Pandim. The sense of isolation and grandeur here makes it one of the most beautiful campsites of the trek
A short and easy walk across flat meadows brings you to Lamuney, the final campsite before Goechala. The landscape becomes stark and dramatic, dotted with glacial streams and rocky terrain. Spend the afternoon resting, hydrating, and mentally preparing for the summit day.
The most challenging and rewarding day begins before dawn under a sky full of stars. Passing the sacred Samiti Lake, you continue the climb as the horizon slowly turns pink. At Goechala Viewpoint I, witness the breathtaking sight of Mt. Kanchenjunga standing right in front of you in golden light. After spending time at the viewpoint, retrace your steps back to Thansing for overnight rest
Retrace your path through alpine meadows and dense forests. Though it is a descent, the long walk offers fresh perspectives of the landscapes you crossed earlier. By evening, reach Tshoka and enjoy a relaxed night with your trek companions
The final trekking day takes you back through oak, magnolia, and rhododendron forests. Cross the last suspension bridge and arrive at Yuksom with a deep sense of achievement and unforgettable memories
After breakfast, depart from Yuksom towards NJP Railway Station or Bagdogra Airport. Carry back not just photographs, but a lifetime of Himalayan memories
